Committed to Excellence
COLOSSIANS 3:23
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.
When Ansel Austin and I founded this program, we were the first student-created and student-run AMSE program at VCHS. We build underwater robots to compete in the international annual MATE ROV robotics tournament, competing against high schools and universities from around the world. Our team members develop technical skills, grow as leaders, and gain real-world engineering and business exposure.

Being able to start a new Underwater Robotics program and to form a competitive MATE ROV team at Valley Christian turned my long-time dream into a reality. Designing underwater vehicles takes engineering to a whole new level of challenge and provides a unique platform for developing many STEM and hands-on skills. As a 3D designer and Mechanical Lead, I am able to bring to fruition my engineering ideas in collaboration with all the team members. In addition, since Team Warrior Tides is run as a business, it is a valuable opportunity for each team member to learn real-life organizational skills and to take ownership of a specific job. Currently, only about 5% of the world’s oceans have been mapped, and quickly evolving autonomous technology holds the key to exploring and protecting the oceans. We are called to be stewards of our planet, and being a part of the Warrior Tides team has set me on my future career path in Ocean Engineering in order to contribute to that mission.
